Animated Hatching Dragon

Use the Cute Baby Dragon Hatching from Egg page for this craft. Color the baby dragon and egg. Once you’re done, cut along the jagged line of the broken egg, separating the baby dragon from its shell. Then, use a brad fastener to reattach the dragon to the egg. Now, kids can “hatch” their baby dragon by popping it out of the egg! Bonus: Add glitter to your dragon or egg to give it a mystical touch.

Dragon Puppet Theater

Use pages like Realistic Medieval Dragon and Castle or Cute Magical Dragon to create your own puppets. Color and cut out the characters. Glue them onto popsicle sticks. Using an old cereal box as a puppet theater, cut out a large window in the front. Decorate the box with markers, stickers, or paint. You can even glue a scrap of fabric across the top of the window for a curtain that can be pulled back to reveal the stage. Kids can have fun retelling stories they’ve seen in movies or make up their own dragon adventures.

Build a Dragon’s Lair Diorama

Print to scale then color the Dragon in Cave with Treasure Chest page. Cut it out. In a shoebox, create a dragon’s cave scene. Add elements like foil for coins and treasure or tissue paper flames. Then, add your colored-in dragon to the center of the scene. This is a great way to let kids immerse themselves in storytelling that goes beyond words on a page or images on a screen.

Create Your Own Dragon Adventure Board Game

Create your own medieval adventure board game. Start by printing your images to scale then coloring your favorite dragon pages, like Three Headed Dragon or Dragon in the Mushroom Forest. Once your images are colored, cut out key elements—such as the dragon, castle, trees, or any other items in the scene. Next, take a blank map and glue the cut-out pieces in various spots, creating an interactive map. This map will serve as the backdrop for your adventure. To play, come up with a story or a set of objectives (ex: rescue the princess, find the hidden treasure, or defeat the fire breathing dragon). You can create a simple dice roll mechanic or make cards with different actions (like “dragon flies to the castle” or “knight defeats a monster”) to guide players through the adventure. Designated spaces on the board could represent different challenges while players use coins or other tokens to move around the board. This activity brings together storytelling, crafting, and game design. It’s a unique way to turn your dragon coloring pages into a new game that the whole family can enjoy!
